CONTOCOOK - Mrs. Gloria Mae Clark (Swift) 81 of Contoocook, New Hampshire died at her daughter’s home surrounded by love on May 8th, 2018 at 3:24 p.m., the hour of Our Lord’s death.
She was born in Groveton, New Hampshire, the daughter of Louise (Trempe) & Kendall Swift, who died when she was young. Joseph Berube of Wentworth Location was her loving stepfather. She was raised by her beloved Nana, Mary McMann Swift, of Groveton.
She graduated from North Stratford High School, Class of 1955 and hairdressing school. As a cosmetologist she owned & operated her own in-home salon, Gloria’s Beauty Salon in Hooksett. Later she worked for the Adjutant General’s accounting office & the State Liquor Commission, where she met her husband, Andrew Clark, before retiring from the State in 1983.
She volunteered extensively for St. Paul Parish in Franklin, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Concord, Compassus Hospice, Concord’s Hospice House (providing haircuts to patients and bringing Holy Communion) and coordinated Eucharistic Ministers at Concord Hospital for the Concord Deanery for over ten years.
She made the best apple pie ever, peanut butter fluff fudge and whoopie pies. She loved to knit and needlepoint and was devoted to the Blessed Mother, praying the Rosary daily for over twenty years. She loved antiques, shopping & made every house a home with her decorating talents. For years she prepared family holiday gatherings & truly had the gift of hospitality. She had a kind heart and loved to give.
She is survived by her husband Andrew Clark of Tilton’s Veteran’s Home; daughter Carol Beauchemin and her husband Alden of Londonderry; son Jonathan Halle and his wife Lorie of Concord; five grandchildren Reid, Cole, Elise, Garrett and Briar; Sister Jodie Beliveau and husband Ivan of North Carolina, her companion cat, Carlos, friends, family and loved ones.
In the spirit of Gloria, you’re invited to join us at her funeral Mass at Christ the King Parish of Concord on Friday, May 11 at 4 PM, wearing bright colors which she loved. Purples, yellows and turquoise were her favorite. We will continue her legacy and pray the Rosary at 3:45, prior to the Mass. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the parish renovation fund at Christ the King, 72 S. Main St., Concord, NH 03301 or Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive Merrimack, NH 03054
