Peter Paul Michaud

Peter P. Michaud September 16, 1936 - January 26, 1918 FRANKLIN-Peter Paul Michaud, 81, passed away on January 26, 2018, at Franklin Regional Hospital after a short period of failing health. Pete was born the only child to Elmire (Drouin) and Paul J. MIchaud on September 16, 1936, in Laconia, NH; He lived there until school age. Raised Roman Catholic, Peter attended St. Mary's School and was a communicant and altar boy at St. Paul's Church in Franklin. He studied at St. Joseph's School for boys in Canada and graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. "Mich" served 4 years as a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force traveling to Texas, the Azores, and Florida. Upon his return he rejoined the family business where he had worked part time since he was 12. He became a Certified Professional Dry Cleaner at the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Silver Springs, MD in 1961. He married Loretta J. Kadlec in 1963 and had one child, Nicole Marie. Together with his wife, he ran Franklin Cleaners until 1980, then continued to run "the shop" on his own with dedicated employees. He took great pride in his work. " Satisfaction is Our Most Important Service" was his business motto. A disabling stroke forced an early retirement in 1995. Pete enjoyed the company of many friends in his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mojalaki Country Club, and Elks Lodge #1280. He was artistic, enjoyed skiing, bowling, waterskiing, tending his garden, cooking, snowmobiling, playing ping-pong, golfing, riding his motorcycles, music and watching football. Annual summer visits with his relatives in Wells Beach, Maine, were special to him. In his later years, Pete could be seen walking at the Tilton Outlet Mall and Franklin Falls Dam. He made several new friends at the Tilton Veteran's Home and Mountain Ridge while working for the Senior Companion Program. The "Little Engine that could" squeezed every last drop out of Life despite a long frustrating decline. Survivors include his daughter Nicki Michaud (Andy Schoneberg) of California, longtime friend Ruth Shea of Franklin, his former wife Loretta Vancor of Allenstown, many cousins and friends. Special thanks to the Franklin VNA, TRIP Center and MOW volunteers, and especially to the caregivers at Your Home to Stay who patiently and kindly made it possible for him to remain at his own home as he wished. Per his request there will be no calling hours. He chose to be cremated and will be interred with his parents in Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin. A graveside service and memorial gathering are being planned for later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, Pete would want you to give a single rose to someone you love or share a meal with a good friend. His recent advice was to "Enjoy this life" and "Take good care of each other."
