Alan Kidder

Franklin, NH - Alan Goss Kidder, 72, passed away on June 1, 2014 at Merrimack County Nursing Home, Boscawen NH. Alan was born on January 6, 1942 in Franklin, NH. He was the son of the late Marjory Goss Kidder and Richard Davis Kidder. Alan was a graduate of Tilton School and the University of New Hampshire where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He was the 1964 captain of both the UNH golf and football teams. Alan was also inducted into the Tilton School and UNH Athletic Halls of Fame. Alan was a lifelong resident of Franklin and was the owner and president of the former Kidder Fuels Inc. in Northfield. He was a strong supporter of youth sports and community activities. He served as a Trustee of the Franklin Savings Bank and the Franklin Regional Hospital. He also served on the Board of the Franklin Visiting Nurse Association and the Peabody Home. Alan had a great love for the game of golf and he was a past president of the NH Golf Association. He was a three time NHGA Jr. Golf Champion and was the 1971 NHGA State Amateur Golf Champion. He was a club champion at several NH golf clubs but he always considered Mojalaki Golf Club in Franklin his home course. Alan was a very loving and kind man. He was often referred to as the "Gentle Giant" during his golf career. He greeted everyone with his warm smile and was loved deeply by his family and friends. The most important part of his life was his family and he adored his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Hall Kidder of Hill, daughter Laurie Donahue and her husband Patrick of Franklin, son Jamey Kidder and daughter Marie Ouimette of Sugar Hill, Georgia. His brother Jason Kidder and wife Beverly of Hopewell NJ sisters: Marilyn Perkins and husband John of Venice, FL, Elizabeth Kidder Jacox and husband Michael, and Patti Kidder and husband Gabe Carino, both of West Palm Beach, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and one great- grandson, as well as many loving family members and friends. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5-7:00 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin, NH 03235. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10 am in St. Paul Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
