Sandy Matava, of Sanbornton, NH, passed away in the early morning of October 7, 2023 at Concord Hospital Laconia after a short decline of health. She is now joined with her husband Bruce Matava and many other relatives that she lost throughout the years.
She is survived by her loving son Matt and wife Katie of Sanbornton and her three granddaughters Makena, Lillyan, and Raeleigh and her son Jeffrey and family of Canterbury, Earleen and husband Frank Perreault of Madison NH. Barbara (BJ) Nowell and husband Sam Samuelson of Franklin NH, Anita Hernandez of Northfield NH, Earl (Butchy) and wife Cheryl Nowell of Myrtle Beach, SC, Fred (Chucky) and wife Pam Nowell of Dallastown, PA, Kenneth Major of Hampton VA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and her three bonus granddaughters Pacey, Leigha, Arianna and “adopted son” Bob Auprey, all of which loved her deeply and will miss her caring and passion toward all of those who loved her.
Sandy worked as an LPN nurse at many different agencies around New Hampshire. After retiring, she worked with her sister Earleen at Storyland in Glen, NH. She enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to ski and Abenaki Indian gatherings. She also excelled at beading and crochet and reading her favorite novels of James Patterson.
There will be a graveside service at Franklin Cemetery, 32 Thompson Park, Franklin NH on October 21 at 11 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at the VFW Post 1698, 26 Peabody Place, Franklin NH from 12-3 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make any donation to the nearest animal shelter or humane society, as Sandy loved animals.
