Gloria SylvesterJune 25, 1934 ~ May 16, 2017 (age 82)
Gloria A. Sylvester, 82, of Franklin, died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon on May 16, 2017 after a brief illness.
She was born in Sumter, SC the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Partin) Stafford. Gloria was raised in the Columbia, SC area and resided in Franklin since the mid 60’s.
Several years ago, she worked as a seamstress and later for several years for Arwood Manufacturing in Tilton until retiring. Gloria worked part-time at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Tilton.
She was member of the VFW Post 1698 Ladies Auxiliary and the Franklin Emblem Club.
Gloria enjoyed sports especially watching her family play. She was a member and past president of the Franklin Booster Club. She was recently presented with a Citizenship Award at Merrimack County Nursing Home. Gloria was well known for how caring she was for other people, her religious beliefs and her patriotism. She was an avid sports fan. Other than the local Franklin teams, her favorites were the Denver Broncos with John Elway and Tim Tebow. She also liked the Atlanta Braves and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Gloria was always so proud of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and was also proud of her southern heritage. Often people were overheard saying “that’s the nicest lady I’ve ever met.”
Family members include her 3 children: Donald “Skinny” Sylvester and his wife Tinya of Franklin, Patricia Prescott and her husband Bill of Northfield, and Danny Sylvester and his wife Renee of Franklin, 6 grandchildren: Zoe, Abby, and Olivia Sylvester, Angela Sawyers and husband Zackary, and Derrick and Dillon Sylvester, a great grandchild, Riley Sawyers, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Allen Stafford.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow int Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin.
