Michael J. Keating

U.S. Veteran

---- Mr. Michael J. Keating, 83, a lifelong Franklin resident, died at Mtn. Ridge Genesis Eldercare in Franklin on Feb. 6, 2013.

He was born in Franklin on April 11, 1929 the son of Thomas and Bertha (Welters) Keating. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1947, and continued schooling in NYC where he studied linotyping and printing.

He served in the US Army and Reserves as a PFC. He worked as a typesetter and printer for the former Journal-Transcript and later The Trumpeter in Franklin. He then worked at The Concord Monitor for eleven years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul Parish in Franklin. Mr. Keating enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. His wife, Jacqueline (Sheehan) Keating, died in 2010.

Family members include his children: Anne Keating and Timothy Keating, both of Franklin, Kathleen Stevens of Milford and her husband George; Patrick Keating and his wife Julie Zuo of Santa Clara, CA; and Margaret Keating-Hughes of North Berwick, ME, and her husband Rob; 2 grandchildren, Michael David Hughes and Grace Anne Hughes; nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by 4 brothers: Paul, Francis, Gerald, and Thomas Keating, and his sister, Rita Keating.

Military Honors and interment will be at The NH Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, on Friday, Feb. 15th at 2:30 pm. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Keating may be made to NH Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276. Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, Franklin, NH (neunfuneralhomes.com) is assisting with arrangements.
